CAREER ASSESSMENT
SUPPORT ELIGIBILITY ASSESSMENT FOR TRANSITIONAL PLANNING
Sometimes individuals do not have concrete career goals and aspirations. Some may have limited understanding of their own abilities and interests. Some may find themselves unable to thrive in their work environment. Some may be unable to return to their typical job after a physical or psychological injury and may be in the process of a career change.
Career assessment, also known as psychological vocational assessment or psychovocational assessment, provides information about an individual’s career choice fit and level of functioning in relation to career planning and decision-making.
The assessment typically involves detailed history-taking through an assessment interview and the use of standardized tests to evaluate an individual’s intellectual functioning, basic academic skills, interests, work preferences, values, personality, and psychological factors relevant to the individual’s vocational functioning.
The assessment can help identify the individual’s strengths and challenges, potential vocational options, and realistic career goals and recommendations for how the individual can achieve them. The assessment can also help enhance the individual’s self-understanding.
